Frogmorton - At Last (1976)

A strikingly accomplished mid-seventies UK folk-rock album in Steeleye Span tradition with beautiful female vocals and wonderfully arranged songs. Includes a wide range of instruments including mandolin, guitar, kazoo, psaltery, accordion and other eclectic instrumentation. Includes band history and a bonus track. Much sought after by collectors of folk rock.

Thank you, Lisa, for a fine English folk album. I love visiting your blogspot. Keep up the good work.
Cheers.

Thanks - enjoyed this one. The arrangements are good (although the bonus track - which I believe was the B-side of the Wild Swans - was a mistake!) Some of the faster songs, like the Wild Swans mentioned above, sound a bit like Steeleye Span around the time of Rocket Cottage.

Two members of Frogmorton married years ago, and are now my parents (including my mother Lucy and her "beautiful femaile vocals"!) They reformed for one night only a few weeks ago and rocked the socks off the gig goers in Teddington.

Many members continue to play to this day, in a variety of bands, or work on solo projects and the album is still available for sale- just add a comment with your contact details!

I first heard Lucy and Dave at my own wine bar in Teddington, Daze of Wine and Roses. I remember them fondly, give them my love. dave.trevena@cornwall.ac.uk

I remember Frogmorton from their Sunday lunch time sessions at the 'Barmy Arms' (Kings Head) Twickenham. Many happy hours.
If there is any news of gigs etc for 2010, I would be glad to know of date / location.

Fantastic folk album, full of charm and good vocals. Scents from the wood.

Well I remember Frogmorton from the Cambridge Folk Festival in the mid 1970s. I also saw them at Uni of East Anglia at a festival I think in 1978.

They were a fabulous band

Absolutely wonderful album, for me one of the albums of my childhood. I never got the chance to see Frogmorton live as I was too young, my dad had the album and for years we listened to it on practically every car journey over an hour. After years of trying to track a copy down I managed to find it on FreakEmporium's list, even then it took them months to get copies. When they arrived you should have seen the looks on my families faces as I presented them each with their own copy. If there was any chance of another gig then I know we would all love to come along. If such a gig was planned how would I be able to find out about it? Thank you Frogmorton for some of my favourite songs, I wish you all the best wherever you are, God bless and keep you x bkgmon@hotmail.com

I well remember Frogmorton playing for us in the Folk Club in Laarbruch, Germany. What an amazing night of music! Never forgot it and I was sooo happy when 'Frogmorton - At Last' came out! Unfortunately it didn't feature one of the haunting songs I loved - 'The Last Battle'. But it did have 'Aurora' on it, and that made me happy! :) Wish I had seen their 're-formation' in 2009! Never mind - their music is still alive, well and living in my computer, where it's played more than frequently! :)
